Police looking for more witnesses to party shooting

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KGO) --
Police are hoping more witnesses will come forward after three people were killed at a party in a San Leandro warehouse over the weekend.

Leneasha Northington, 16, is being remembered as a cheerful and thoughtful girl.

Police are hoping the shock of Saturday night's triple murder has subsided and people will start to come forward to help explain what happened outside the party.

Story: Three killed in San Leandro party shooting "There was a lot of flight, a lot of people hiding; obviously, in many cases it's self preservation, those are the people we're trying to appeal to right now, that we have not heard from, that may have seen something," San Leandro Police Sgt. Doug Calcagno said.

Police have a slightly better picture of what happened Saturday night. The now believe the promoted tattoo party was over when two men opened fire, killing three people and injuring three more.

"There was about a 50 minute period of time where the doors were closed and locked and the time the shooting occurred," Calcagno said. "So, of the 150-200, some folks left and there were still many people left in the parking lot."

Investigators say the party promoters are cooperating with them, although they do not want to release their names.

No alcohol was served at the party.

"There were at least two shooters, wearing dark, hooded sweatshirts," Calcagno said. "Again, one of the things we're trying to confirm is if the suspects just got there or if they were actually in the party or outside in the parking lot. That's one of the pieces of information that's kind of important for us right now."

Two of the three injured in the shooting are still in the hospital.

Police have interviewed 15-20 witnesses but are hoping to talk to more.
