SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) --
An AMBER Alert for a missing San Jose girl has been cancelled after she was found safe and the kidnapper shot by police.




Tri Truong Le, 42, is suspected of kidnapping an 11-year-old girl around 1:20 a.m. from his ex-girlfriend's home in the 2600 block of Taffy Drive. The girl is believed to be the daughter of Le's ex-girlfriend.

Police said Le forced his way into the residence and assaulted a family member before firing several shots inside the home.

He then went into the girl's bedroom and took her from the home at gunpoint.

Le fled with her in a late model, dark colored minivan, which was described by witnesses as possibly "American made," according to police.

Police said Le's criminal history included domestic violence and driving under the influence.
